2018 was a year of building new theatre for Charles, five major projects with five different theatre companies, all premiering at different times over the next two years. 2019 sees the realisation and premier of two of the shows and a new phase of development for three of the projects:
BIRTH by Theatre RE- For two years Charles has been creating this piece with Theatre Re and now here it is! Premiering at The Point in Eastleigh & Shoreditch Town Hall for the International Mime Festival and a full run at Edinburgh Fringe this Summer.

BEYOND BELIEF - Tmesis Theatre created a show that explores the new possibilities of digital afterlife, how we deal with death and grieving in our new technological age. The show premiered at The Unity Theatre Sept 2018 and has a spring tour this year.

FORESTS - A piece in development with Eden's Cave Theatre exploring our connection and disconnection with nature through movement and song. THE FERAL PROJECT - The legacy, identity, life and death of Kaspar Hauser will be brought to the stage with a new and distinctive combination of Vonnegut Collective’s improvisational music and Animikii Theatre’s expressive and embodied physicality. Premier 2020/21
A B O U T
Charles Sandford is a London born actor, physical performer and visual artist. He trained at RADA in their MA Theatre Lab and has since become a specialist in physical theatre. Working closely with Theatre Re, Animikii Theatre, Tmesis Theatre company as well as making his own work combining performance and sculpture. Charles' expertise as a visual artist translates beautifully into developing new theatrical works. Within movement direction and acting Charles offers a unique physical perspective that has developed from his Fine Arts degree at Kingston and his physical training at RADA.
Charles took the title role in Luvas Theatre’s production of ‘Titus Andronicus’, toured nationally as Animikii Theatre’s lead in their premier piece ‘Origins’ and toured Europe with TNT’s ‘Dracula’. Charles took the lead in Clockschool Theatre’s production of ‘The Poetry of Exile’, developed a new work based on Kafka’s ‘Hunger Artist’, performed at Tate Britian with artists Lucy Beech and Edward Thomasson and has taken 'Origins' by Animikii Theatre to Edinburgh which was awarded "Pick of the Fringe" by Voice Magazine *****.
